Videos and QR Codes in the Library

After careful review of several library videos, I was able to decide which videos would be most interesting and helpful in a classroom setting. It was hard to choose only two videos on some Channels because each of the videos were high quality and seems to be able to grasp the attention of not only the students but faculty and staff as well. The BBMS videos are my favorite.

Animoto

I truly enjoyed working in this program! It was so easy to use and I will be using it in my library throughout the school year. I anticipate creating book trailers for new books or books that I would like to highlight each month. I like that the program limits the time to two minutes. Videos would be just long enough to capture the reader's attention and get them interested.

I used Animoto to create a trailer on a book I just recently read, Zane and the Hurricane by Rodman Philbrick. Below is the QR code to the book trailer:

  1. I read Zane and the Hurricane and I think your trailer captures the book wonderfully. Great work. And I tried to get an educator account for Animoto but I kept getting the "trial" video for some reason...

  3. Valerie,
Wonderful job with your book trailer. The images you found are amazing! I also read this book last year with my class and they really liked it. Thank you for sharing. I hope you're staying cool.

  4. Ok Valerie,

Now what we need you to do is survey the current Bluebonnet and Gulf Coast read lists and make a few more of these booktrailers to disseminate so we can knock the socks off of our readers in the Fall!

I wish I would have had your video for Zane and the Hurricane last year. This was one I had to "push" onto library students to read to insure the integrity of text voting. I'm sure I would have had a greater response with your video in my corner. Really nice work!

  5. The way you presented the videos you found was easy to understand and a great way to show them. Your book trailer was riveting. It doesn't seem like it can be, but this years seniors are probably some of the last kids to have first-hand memories of Katrina. Nice way to bring its relevance and immediacy to the fore!
